We are delighted to invite you to the 7th International Symposium on Biological Control of Arthropods (ISBCA7), taking place from Monday, 26 October to Friday, 30 October 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya. The symposium will be co-hosted by CAB International (CABI) and the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) at the KALRO Conference Centre, located at their headquarters in Loresho, Kaptagat Road.

We are pleased to announce strong global engagement, with 13 scientific sessions and panels proposed by colleagues from around the world. These sessions cover a diverse range of scientific topics and discussion themes and are supported by dedicated organizers and contributors. All final session topics are now available online under the Sessions section of the symposium website.

We are also delighted to announce that the detailed scientific programme is now available. The programme can be accessed under the Programme section and provides a comprehensive overview of the exciting scientific presentations, discussions, and networking opportunities planned throughout the week.

We sincerely thank the international biological control community for the enthusiasm, collaboration, and commitment that are helping shape what promises to be an engaging and impactful ISBCA7.

ISBCA aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders in biological control to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and discuss the latest developments in the field. This includes the various approaches to biological control, including conservation, augmentation, and importation of natural enemy species for the management of arthropod pests. It also encompasses important cross-cutting topics such as adoption pathways, implementation challenges, and socio-economic impacts.

We particularly encourage postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers to contribute, present their work, and engage with colleagues from across the globe. A central goal of ISBCA7 is to foster a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative international community. Following successful meetings in the Americas, Europe, Australasia, and Asia, we are especially proud to host the symposium for the first time in continental Africa.

This important milestone provides a valuable opportunity to:

1. Strengthen participation and visibility of biological control research across Africa.
2. Engage colleagues who may not previously have had the opportunity to attend ISBCA.
3. Build new collaborations, strengthen existing partnerships, and expand professional networks worldwide.

Reduced Fees and Support

To promote broad and inclusive participation, a limited number of reduced-fee places remain available:

• 60% fee reduction for scientists from national agricultural research organizations and universities in low- and lower-middle-income African countries, as well as international students.
• 80% fee reduction for students from low- and lower-middle-income African countries.

These subsidies are available on a first-come, first-served basis due to limited funding. CABI remains strongly committed to supporting participation from across the African region.
